Day 11: Kerikeri to YHA Paihia

Distance today: 28.1km

Distance total: 276.5km

Time hiked: 6h 45min

Time total: 80h 49min

Not much to tell about to be honest. The Stone Store House, New Zealand’s oldest surviving stone building and the other historic houses around makes me feel like strolling through Stratford-upon-Avon or some other picturesque English town.

The rest of the day is walking through Waitangi Forest. Fairly uninteresting. Around halfway into the hike it starts pouring down. A little disappointing as the view of the Bay of Islands, once you exit the forest, would be excellent in clear weather.

Talking about good weather: Bright sunshine accompanies me when I enter Paihia. Typical Apr... ehm September weather.

Finally a real bed again tonight and ready my 2nd Zero Day.
